Core TS Partners opens a second service workshop in Umnugovi
Pulley relagging, roller rebuilds and valve overhaul, closer to the mines that need them.
Most of the refurbishment work we do is not technically difficult. It is logistically difficult. A worn pulley that needs relagging is a two-day job and a two-week round trip, and the round trip is what turns a planned repair into a replacement purchase.
The new workshop in Umnugovi takes that trip out of the equation for the South Gobi operations. It is equipped for pulley relagging, roller rebuilds, chute and hopper relining, and gearbox and valve overhaul, with dimensional check and test before anything goes back to site.
What this changes
Refurbishment only makes financial sense when the turnaround fits inside the maintenance window. Bringing the workshop to within a day's haul of the plants means components that were previously scrapped on schedule grounds can now be economically returned to service — typically at a third to a half of replacement cost.
The workshop is staffed by five technicians, three of whom came through our own training programme. It is open for third-party work as well as for equipment we supplied.
